Trekking in Asia
For many people, trekking in Asia means trekking in
the Himalayas. This is hardly surprising as the world's highest mountain range is packed full of Must Do Treks, with Everest
Base Camp the most famous of them all. There is more to trekking in Asia than the Himalayas but, as its most famous trekking
destination it seems like a good place to start!
Everest Base Camp Trek is one of the most famous
trekking routes in the world and is definitely a Must Do Trek. Taking between 2-3 weeks, this famous trek is packed full of
history, fantastic scenery and, of course, takes you to Mount Everest, the earth's highest mountain. But there are many
other Must Do Treks in Asia such as the Annapurna Circuit, the Langtang Trek, Gondoro La and Annapurna Sanctuary to name but
a few.
Meanwhile, destinations away from Nepal, Pakistan and northern India are also becoming
more popular, with trekkers discovering the delights of countries as diverse as Papua New Guinea, China and Thainland. Other
destinations are opening up to travellers, allowing trekkers to explore regions such as Kamchatka in Russia, Kazakhstan and
Bhutan.
With such a diverse range of trekking regions, Asia is a prime candidate to be the best
trekking destination in the world and should be on every Must Do Trekker's hit list.
